Unexpected

JFK International Airport

Last Friday I threw on a dress and got all gussied up at nine in the morning to go meet Sweetheart at the airport.  We met up at the terminal and headed back to the train.  As we were coming down the steps, he looked out the window and said, "Hey, look at that.  I thought you said there was no nature out here?"

            

Hmm.  Guess I was wrong.

I still don't know where I'll be living in two months.  New York?  New Orleans?  Who knows.  But wherever I end up, North Carolina is poised to become my new favorite distraction.  It's only a day's drive from either city, and there's tons of places like this to lounge around all day with your friends...

      

    

                    

      

    

              

Field trip

    
Today seemed like a good day to trade the sounds of the city for the sounds of the swamp.  So I drove across the river and headed down to Barataria Preserve, which is a great place to spend an afternoon wandering around.

        

      

                

          

I found this up in a tree.  I have no idea what it is.  I'll bet GG would know.  She knows all about bird stuff.  She would probably pull out one of those humongous bird books she has stashed all over the house and find it in about a minute.

              

      
Barataria Preserve is part of Jean Lafitte National Park, which consists of six different park sites spread out around south Louisiana.  Worth a visit if you're in the area.   Jean Lafitte National Park
