Love and hate in Louisiana

I love Louisiana.  I was proud to call New Orleans my home for nearly ten years.  Hell, I don't even live there anymore and I STILL call it home.  I love the food, the music, the dancing, the culture, the sticky sweltering heat, the people, especially the people...

Well, not always the people.

I just read this story, out of Hammond, Louisiana.  Suburb of New Orleans, across the lake.  About 45 minutes north.  Justice of the peace denied an interracial couple a marriage license.  It's a jaw-dropping story, you can read it here if you want.

I mean, what the fuck?  Seriously.  Welcome to Louisiana.  You have just entered a time warp.  The year is 1924.

Sigh.  I love Louisiana.  I really do.  This guy is awesome...
